Bad Habits Lyrics By Ed Sheeran

Bad Habits

Bad Habits lyrics

[Intro]

(One, two, three, four)

Ooh, ooh

[Verse 1]

Every time you come around, you know I can’t say no

Every time the sun goes down, I let you take control

I can feel the paradise before my world implodes

And tonight had something wonderful

[Chorus]

My bad habits lead to late nights ending’ alone

Conversations with a stranger I barely know

Swearin’ this’ll be the last, but it probably won’t

I got nothin’ left to lose, or use, or do

My bad habits lead to wide eyes staring’ at space

And I know I lose control of the things that I say

Yeah, I was looking’ for a way out, now I can’t escape

Nothing’ happens after two, it’s truе, it’s true

My bad habits lead to you

[Post-Chorus]

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

My bad habits lead to you

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

My bad habits lеad to you

[Verse 2]

Every pure intention ends when the good times start

Fallin’ over everything to reach the first time’s spark

It started under neon lights and then it all got dark

I only know how to go too far

Nothing’ happens after two, it’s true, it’s true

My bad habits lead to you

[Post-Chorus]

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

My bad habits lead to you

Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

This song was released as the lead single from his fifth studio album, Asylum, on 25 June 2021, through Atlantic Records and Asylum Records. In more than four years, this was the first time he had released a solo song from an album alone. There was also a limited edition CD and cassette single released as part of the release. There have been mixed reactions from music critics to this song. It has been compared to The Weeknd’s work, along with Bronski Beat’s work, in terms of sound and style.

“Bad Habits” was a commercial success, peaking at number one in 28 countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Hungary, New Zealand, Switzerland and South Africa, becoming the official first number-one hit on the newly launched South African music charts. The song proved to be particularly successful in both the United Kingdom and Ireland, as it spent eleven consecutive weeks at the top of both the UK Singles Chart and Irish Singles Chart and also became the best-selling single of the year in both countries. Billboard Hot 100 ranked the song number two in the United States. A top 10 spot on the Global 200 was also achieved by the song.

British rappers Tion Wayne and Central Cee were featured in a UK drill remix made by Fumez the Engineer on 12 August 2021. The following day, following the performance of the song by Bring Me the Horizon at the BRIT Awards of 2022, the pair announced they were going to release a heavy metal studio version of it on 17 February 2022. The title song from Tour was also included on the Deluxe Edition of the album.

There were mixed reviews for “Bad Habits” among critics. Described as “a certain smash that’s ready for the Weeknd”, Alexis Petridis gave the song four out of five stars. Taking a look at the notes of the track, Nick Levine of NME gave it three out of five stars, calling it “neither a misfire nor a sure-fire winner” and comparing it to Bronski Beat, especially “Smalltown Boy”.In the Independent, Adam White gave Sheeran 2 out of 5 stars for “the stilted comeback” and said he was rummaging through leftovers from Abel Tesfaye. The song was described by Pitchfork’s Quinn Moreland as painfully predictable, as it aspires to be Abel but settles for anonymity.”.
